David's Personal Mission Statement
"My clients trust that I stand behind my word and serve as their advisor by making appropriate recommendations. They count on me to know and understand their business, their industry and important tax laws. I always take time to ensure they understand the big picture and explain important information that affects them directly."
David joined Lewis, Hooper & Dick in 1985. As a member in the firm, he maintains a comprehensive tax practice. David serves as a trusted advisor, providing specialized tax planning, compliance and consulting services to businesses and individuals. Though he works with a variety of clients, he concentrates his practice on organizations in agriculture, grain and livestock industries.
Beyond his client service commitments, David manages the operations of Lewis, Hooper & Dick's tax department. As Director of Tax Services, he allocates client assignments to the staff and manages the progress of each individual and corporate client.
The experience David brings from his previous roles helps him to better identify each of his client's needs and goals. Prior to joining Lewis, Hooper, & Dick, he served as a supervising accountant for 5 years at Kennedy & Coe, CPAs in McCook, Nebraska. In the beginning of David's accounting career, he served as a staff accountant at Scofield and Company, CPAs in Littleton, Colorado.
With over 30 years of public accounting experience, David is recognized within the industry as a respected authority on tax and general accounting principles. Throughout his accounting career, he has assisted family-owned businesses by providing consulting on succession or transition planning and business valuation support. On many occasions, David has provided clients with guidance on reading and better understanding monthly financial statements in order to increase the awareness of what is happening inside their business. By thinking "outside the box," he helped a client divide their entity into two corporations to provide significant tax savings and financial growth.
David currently resides in Garden City, Kansas with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoys watching hockey and lacrosse and attending the annual Jimmy Buffett concert.
