Gary's Personal Mission Statement
"My goal is to provide my clients with the type of service they can't find elsewhere. As their trusted advisor, I feel it is my job to serve as an insightful, proactive resource for operations improvement suggestions. In the end, I want each of my clients to feel like I have significantly contributed to their success."
Gary joined Lewis, Hooper & Dick, LLC in 1980. In his role as managing member, he oversees and manages the firm's day-to-day operations. Gary specializes in government audits and serves as the firm's designated leader in charge of the firms governmental quality control standards and membership with the Government Audit Quality Center (GAQC). He also provides clients with comprehensive accounting, budgeting, consulting and income tax services. In addition to his public sector work, Gary serves clients in a number of industries including healthcare and agriculture.
As the firm's CEO and CFO, Gary guides the firm's strategic planning and growth initiatives. Gary also plays a significant role in the planning and implementation of programs within the human resources and information technology areas.
Gary's professional career began in 1978. Before joining Lewis, Hooper & Dick, he worked at Fox & Company in Denver, Colorado. Gary assisted the small business department with individual and business tax planning, financial statement preparation and payroll training. He also gained valuable audit experience while providing trust fund audits for several financial institutions.
With over 28 years of accounting experience, Gary has developed a significant amount of knowledge in the accounting industry. He has worked with a number of clients in the public sector, including local governments and school districts. Specifically, Gary provided efficiencies and renewed public confidence in the management of a school district by designing and implementing departmental operation reviews and assisted the State of Kansas in developing a similar program for school districts. He has also assisted several clients in lowering their taxes by finding errors during investigations of increased property tax.
Gary attributes his professional success to the opportunity to work with talented people and the support of his family. His colleagues and clients alike would credit Gary with an impressive level of commitment, dedication, and tenacity. Throughout his life and career, Gary has exhibited his belief that self determination can take anyone far in life.
Gary was born and raised in Colorado and currently resides in Garden City, Kansas. While not in the office, he enjoys spending time with family, scuba diving, running and caring for his yard.
